PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Founders at Baseballism.com came to us to turn their love for the game of baseball into an all-in-one app. Although we admired their brand and their passion, the "all-in-one app" concept is typically a red flag. We love big visions, but in order to get there, you have to have the discipline to take small steps. Luckily, these Founders were exceptionally self-aware, and told us "We know what we don't know. So we're looking for a partner to guide us."

Music to our ears - so we decided to dive in.

The problems the Founders were constantly hearing (and experiencing themselves) was just how painful it is to manage baseball teams, track stats, and keep scores for amateur teams. The challenge for Naked - was 'stripping down' this big vision into the right strategic stages for longterm, sustainable success.

We helped the client navigate these challenges and extensive technical hurdles to create a streamlined experience for fans, coaches, players, parents, and scorekeepers alike. Considering the app's complexity, we also advised a prolonged beta testing period. So even after Ballplayer's initial 2023 beta launch, we continued to partner with the Founders to refine the user experience, add new features, and make iterative improvements based on user data and customer feedback.

Additionally, part of our version 1.0 go-to-market strategy involved a pre-launch marketing campaign and sign-up funnel. Here, we also created Ballplayer's full-length commercial with our in-house production team just down the street in Costa Mesa, CA (seen above).

When Ballplayer officially launched version 1.0 in January 2024, Ballplayer earned a Web Excellence award and amassed ~14k users within its first month, while continuing to show impressive growth. This massive project was a culmination of all of Naked's capabilities - MVP consultation, product roadmapping, UI/UX Design, Development, Support & iteration, Creative Marketing, and go-to-market strategy.

This case study is has two great lessons for new app Founders:

1. Success in one field does not guarantee your success in another. It's critical to "know what you don't know", and with that awareness, find strategic partners to lean on (like Naked) that can amplify your strengths and accelerate your growth.

2. There is no "elevator" to success. Only a staircase. Regardless of the brilliance of your vision - you have to take the right steps, one step at a time.
